Earn Extra Eco Stars When Using Reusable Cups on the 10th of Every Month
1.5 Billion Personal Cup Uses Recorded Until April This Year
From now on, Starbucks customers will be able to earn 1 extra Eco Star on the 'No Disposable Cup Day.'
Starbucks Korea announced on the 8th that starting from the 10th, on the 10th of every month, customers using personal reusable cups will receive 2 Eco Stars, and the 'No Disposable Cup Day' campaign will be revamped to offer appreciation benefits for more customers participating in eco-friendly practices.
Since 2018, Starbucks has been running the 'No Disposable Cup Day' campaign on the 10th of every month in collaboration with the Resource Circulation Solidarity, encouraging customers to use personal reusable cups and rewarding them with various prizes such as mugs, tumblers, and coffee grounds planter kits.
From 2022, Starbucks has been giving out free drink coupons to commemorate store openings, and this year, from January to April, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its opening, benefits were provided to the top 1,000 customers who used personal reusable cups the most, with 250 customers each month. Over the past six years, more than 1 million customers have enjoyed the campaign benefits, and this year alone, over 1.6 million Eco Stars have been awarded annually for personal cup use on No Disposable Cup Day, encouraging the use of personal cups through immediate benefits.
This campaign revamp aims to accelerate the activation of personal reusable cup usage policies by providing benefits in the form of Eco Stars that anyone can receive, thereby encouraging more customer participation. In fact, after Starbucks introduced Eco Star accumulation as a benefit for using personal reusable cups in addition to the 400 won discount in 2018, the number of personal reusable cup uses increased by 84% in 2019 within just one year, surpassing 10 million uses annually for the first time.
From now on, on the 10th of every month, Starbucks Rewards members who use a Starbucks card registered to their account and choose to accumulate Eco Stars when ordering beverages made with personal reusable cups will immediately receive 2 Eco Stars per personal cup. The more personal cups used, the greater the benefits; for example, if a customer purchases 3 drinks using personal cups in one day, they can accumulate a total of 6 Eco Stars.
