On the 7th, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Jin Xing (56), from Liaoning Province in northeastern China, announced via social media that she had remarried her German ex-husband, from whom she divorced 18 years ago. They divorced in 2006 and announced their reunion after 18 years.
Jin is a famous transgender dancer and celebrity with 14 million followers on Weibo. In April 1995, she underwent gender reassignment surgery at a hospital in Beijing, becoming the first officially recognized transgender person in China. Her surgery process was also made into a film. As a dancer, she suffered paralysis in her left leg for 16 hours due to a nurse's mistake pressing medical equipment during the surgery. However, she successfully rehabilitated within a year and appeared on stage as a transgender woman, demonstrating her strong will.
In February 2004, Jin met a German man named Heinz Gerd Oidman on a flight from Paris to Shanghai. Oidman fell in love with Jin at first sight, and Jin confessed to him that she was born male. She also revealed that she had adopted and was raising two sons and a daughter. Jin expected their relationship to end, but the next night, Oidman called her and said he would accept everything. The two married in 2005, and Oidman moved to China to be with Jin.
Forced divorce due to unavoidable circumstances... Continued co-parenting and secret remarriage in Italy in 2018
However, they divorced after one year of marriage to resolve issues related to their children's household registration and to avoid disrupting their eldest son's education. As a foreigner, Oidman had to wait one year to qualify for international adoption. Despite the divorce, they continued co-parenting. It is known that they secretly remarried in Italy in 2018.
Then, on Oidman's birthday last month on the 11th, Jin officially announced their remarriage on Weibo. Jin said on social media, "We had to divorce in 2006 because of the children, but I announce that I have remarried the same man after 18 years," adding, "I have witnessed a journey of love and responsibility." Jin chose 13:14 as the time to announce the remarriage because it sounds like 'eternal' in Chinese.
Local netizens responded with comments such as "True love is never late," "Jin has lived her own life," and "Perfect love, the desired gender, and a profession to pour passion into."
In 2015, Jin hosted a talk show called 'Jin Xing Show,' which was greatly loved by viewers. She is currently praised as a 'pioneer of modern Chinese dance.' She began rigorous dance training at the Shenyang Song and Dance Ensemble at the age of nine and studied modern dance in the United States in the 1990s, returning to China with innovative dance styles and concepts. Jin has received numerous top dance awards in China, including the Wenhua Award, the highest government honor in Chinese performing arts.
