Goheung Space Aviation Festival, Successfully Concluded

Show the Power of Residents and the Dynamic Charm of Goheung

Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the 14th Goheung Aerospace Festival, held at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, successfully concluded on May 5th, the second day of the festival, with around 60,000 visitors from across the country despite severe weather conditions.

Under the slogan "The Great Flight of Humanity: From Earthlings to Space Explorers," this festival was praised as a rich event where visitors could vividly see and experience the history of Korea's space endeavors all in one place.

In particular, the Naro Space Center tour program, which is only open once a year during the festival period, sold out within a week of ticket sales opening. The special exhibitions of Naro and Nuri rockets, as well as the space travel media art created as a dream and imagination space for children and teenagers, were highly appreciated for providing family visitors with a mysterious and memorable experience.

Additionally, with 160 diverse and abundant experience and performance programs such as the astronaut carnival with visitors, KAIST moon exploration robot experience, on-site evaluation of astronaut ideas addressing space environmental issues, and water rocket launches, the festival elevated the status of Goheung as the aerospace hub city and cradle of Korea’s space industry.

A family who visited the festival every day from the first to the last day said, “This is the most abundant festival in terms of sights and experiences that we have ever seen,” adding, “Especially, the outdoor performances by various artists such as alien shows matching the festival theme at different times, goblins living on the moon, pantomimes, and juggling provided unforgettable emotions.”

County Governor Gong Young-min stated, “The 14th Goheung Aerospace Festival was filled with visitors’ enthusiasm along with diverse experiential events and performances expressing the past, present, and future of the space industry, once again proving the reputation of Goheung as the only aerospace hub city in Korea,” and added, “It was enough to show the power of the residents and the dynamic charm of Goheung.”

He continued, “We will carefully review this year’s festival and steadily prepare to introduce new programs and performances at the 15th Goheung Aerospace Festival next year.”
