"Raising Food Safety Awareness Among Citizens" ... Changwon Special City Holds Various Events During Food Safety Week

“Food Safety Day” was established on May 14th every year since 2002 to widely promote the importance of food safety. It aims to enhance the safety awareness of food-related workers, prevent food safety accidents, and improve public health.

The main activities during Food Safety Week include ▲ operating a food culture improvement and food poisoning prevention promotion booth at the 13th Agu Day Festival ▲ a pledge and quiz event on food safety practice for workers at local children’s center meal services ▲ a public food poisoning prevention campaign ▲ a food poisoning field response simulation drill ▲ and promotion of Food Safety Week through the city hall website, electronic billboards, and social media.

Son Gil-kwang, Director of the Health and Hygiene Division, said, “We hope many citizens will participate in various events to expand and continuously spread awareness of the importance of food safety on the occasion of the 23rd Food Safety Day. As May is a high-risk month for food poisoning, we ask citizens to take an active interest in food safety by following basic food poisoning prevention rules such as hand washing.”
