Enchem Hires Former Samsung Executive... "Targeting North America and Europe"

Enchem, a specialist company in secondary battery electrolytes, is enhancing its global competitiveness by newly recruiting a future strategy expert with experience as an executive at a global conglomerate. On the 8th, Enchem announced that it appointed Jeong Hong-gu, former Vice President of Cheil Worldwide, as the President in charge of the Planning and Coordination Office.

With this recruitment as a turning point, Enchem plans to further strengthen organizational efficiency in corporate management and develop differentiated business strategies from competitors in the rapidly changing global secondary battery market. The company explained that based on President Jeong’s diverse global management capabilities and extensive personal network, it aims to accelerate growth in the North American and European markets, which are the fiercest battlegrounds for secondary batteries.

President Jeong will serve as the head of Enchem’s Planning and Coordination Office, overseeing corporate strategic planning as well as management support and finance departments. Through this, he plans to establish a fast-paced organizational culture and contribute to setting Enchem’s future strategy and business direction. Additionally, he intends to build an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management system and establish a sustainable management structure.

President Jeong, newly recruited this time, is recognized as a figure who has led innovation and growth within companies by performing various key roles in major affiliates within the Samsung Group for about 35 years. Known as a strategist for overseas business, President Jeong held diverse positions at Samsung Electronics, including the Global Management Research Center, Middle East General Management Support Team, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) General Support Team, and Wireless Business Division Management Support Group.

In particular, President Jeong established himself as a planning and coordination expert by serving in major corporate positions such as △overseas operations △management control △management support. Recognizing these achievements, he was recruited by Cheil Worldwide in 2018 and contributed to strengthening Cheil Worldwide’s global mergers and acquisitions (M&A) capabilities.

While serving as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Cheil Worldwide, President Jeong oversaw the company’s △business strategy △investment △management control △human resources △legal affairs △public relations, among others. In addition, he concurrently served as the CEO of the Samsung Lions, the professional baseball team within the Samsung Group.

A company official stated, “Enchem has been rapidly advancing as a global leading company by continuously expanding its proactive global supply chain and vertically integrating raw materials since its listing.” He added, “The company, led by CEO Oh Jeong-kang, is putting great effort into securing excellent talent that can accelerate the company’s growth.”

He continued, “This recruitment of President Jeong was also carried out to achieve the goal of ‘leaping to become the global number one company’ at an early stage.” He added, “By fully incorporating President Jeong’s high global business understanding and strategic and planning capabilities into corporate operations, we plan to further enhance corporate competitiveness and efficiency and accelerate innovation.”
