Yongsan-gu Operates Community Space 'Sosohan Ajiteu' on Yongmaru-gil

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will operate the community space 'Sosohan Ajit' (Saechang-ro 14-gil 43, 2nd floor) from the 8th of this month until the end of the year to foster the Yongmaru-gil commercial district in Yongmun-dong.

Located on Yongmaru-gil, which connects the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail and Yongmun Traditional Market, 'Sosohan Ajit' is a complex cultural space providing various information and events about the commercial district. It also serves as a community space where residents, merchants, and visitors can comfortably rest. It is open free of charge to anyone from Wednesday to Sunday, 2 PM to 8 PM.

In an era where entertainment is considered most important, 'Sosohan Ajit' plans to attract visitors by offering various events that deeply convey the unique atmosphere of Yongmaru-gil.

First, short films on various themes selected through monthly curation will be screened, and in collaboration with local independent bookstores, visitors can freely browse unique stories of independent books.

Additionally, it will be used as a complex cultural space where various pop-up exhibitions and cultural experiences are possible in connection with artists in the commercial district. The 'Yonghan Class,' reflecting the tastes of various generations through DIY, experiences, lectures, and demonstrations, will be held 2 to 3 times a week.

This May, cultural classes with themes such as ▲How is whiskey made? ▲Let's open a bookstore ▲My own cherished item: an anvil doll keyring ▲Smartphone shooting and editing in one day ▲Practical ways to reduce waste in daily life ▲Q&A with the audience at Sosohan Cinema ▲Introduction to bonsai ▲MBTI life exploration will be offered, allowing participants to experience both learning and fun simultaneously.

The recruitment capacity for each class is 12 to 20 people, and applications can be made via the Yongmaru-gil Instagram or on-site at 'Sosohan Ajit.' After the class ends, participants will receive a discount coupon called 'Yongdon,' worth the participation fee (5,000 KRW), which can be used at coupon stores within Yongmaru-gil, contributing to increased consumption in the commercial district.

Furthermore, 'Sosohan Ajit' is available free of charge to anyone needing a place for workshops, meetings, small gatherings, or socializing. Space rental applications can be made online (Naver Place) or on-site.

Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "'Sosohan Ajit' means a modest but bright and lively place where people frequently gather." He added, "I hope it becomes a space where merchants and residents based in Yongmaru-gil and visitors gathered along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail can all comfortably rest."

Meanwhile, the Yongmaru-gil local brand commercial district completed the first phase of infrastructure development last year, targeting 121 stores in the Saechang-ro 14-gil area (31,225㎡). This year, the second phase of the commercial district branding project is underway, and in 2025, various projects will be promoted to strengthen self-sustainability.
