Field opinion gathering for preventing children's traffic accidents also conducted
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) conducted a school commute campaign on the morning of the 3rd in front of Jangpyeong Elementary School to ensure pedestrian children's traffic safety.
Dongdaemun-gu was selected last year in the Ministry of Science and ICT's Smart Village project competition and is investing a total of 5.24 billion KRW over three years to create a safe city for all by implementing various projects such as right-turn alert systems and smart crosswalk installations. In particular, the focus will be on preventing traffic accidents through improvements in child protection zones.
This campaign was carried out jointly by related organizations including Dongdaemun-gu, Jangpyeong Elementary School, the police station, and parents participating in the Smart Village Living Lab to establish a culture of traffic safety. Participants actively engaged in activities to prevent children's traffic accidents, such as guiding children on traffic safety, promoting traffic safety rules, and alerting drivers to be cautious. They also distributed safety umbrellas made of transparent and reflective materials to the students.
Along with the campaign, the district held a "Smart Village On-site Living Lab" session to gather opinions on traffic accident prevention.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, who participated in the campaign that day, said, "Based on the diverse opinions of residents, we will actively utilize smart technology to create a Dongdaemun-gu where vulnerable pedestrians such as children and the elderly can walk safely with peace of mind."
