Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with LG Electronics and Nexsing on the 3rd for the installation and operation of electric vehicle charging facilities.
The signing ceremony was held with the attendance of Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Jo Hyup, Executive Director of LG Electronics, and Jang In-chang, CEO of Nexsing.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲(Gwangjin-gu) administrative support related to the installation of electric vehicle charging facilities ▲(LG Electronics) introduction and proposal of smart technology and establishment of a public-private consortium ▲(Nexsing) installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging facilities.
Each organization agreed to actively utilize their capabilities and resources to expand public charging infrastructure within Gwangjin-gu.
In particular, the district secured a total of 102 million KRW in private investment funds to cover the costs for smooth installation of charging stations.
Gwangjin-gu plans to supply charging facilities at Baenamuteo Public Parking Lot (Junggok 3-dong, 20 Dongil-ro 76na-gil) by September. A total of five chargers will be installed, including two rapid chargers and three slow chargers, and will be open 24 hours for the convenience of residents.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We thank LG Electronics and Nexsing for their significant investment in building public charging infrastructure, which is necessary for Gwangjin-gu. We look forward to continued joint cooperation among the organizations to promote Green Mobility projects tailored to the characteristics of the region.”
Last year, Gwangjin-gu was finally selected for the Ministry of Environment’s ‘Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Brand Project,’ installing 26 rapid electric vehicle chargers at seven locations within the district. Starting this year, the district has also been supporting the purchase of electric and hydrogen vehicles with a subsidy of 500,000 KRW, actively promoting the spread of environmentally friendly vehicles.
