Expansion of Key Pledge 'New Hongkong City Project'
Presentation Held for Over 80 Domestic and International Companies
Investment Attraction Agreements Signed with 12 Companies and Institutions
Incheon City is making an all-out effort to attract investment centered on the southern part of Ganghwado Island and Yeongjong, Cheongna, and Songdo to leap into the world's top 10 cities.
On the 7th, Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok of Incheon held the 'Global Top Ten (top10) City Incheon Investment Attraction Briefing' at Inspire Resort on Yeongjongdo Island, declaring that the existing New Hong Kong City project would be expanded to develop Incheon into a 'Global Top Ten City.'
The briefing was attended by representatives from over 80 domestic and international companies, including the Philippine LCS Group, Lotte Biologics, Korea Zinc, Korea GM, and Daeju Heavy Industries. Mayor Yoo began with a presentation on investment attraction strategies, introduced successful cases of Incheon companies, and signed investment attraction agreements with 12 companies and institutions.
'Global Top Ten City Incheon' is a renamed version of the 'New Hong Kong City Project,' a core pledge of the 8th local government administration. While maintaining the original pledge goals, the target for investment attraction has been expanded from Hong Kong-based companies to all domestic and international companies. The plan includes attracting global companies centered on the southern part of Ganghwado Island and Yeongjong, Cheongna, and Songdo.

Looking at the investment attraction strategies by region, Ganghwado Island plans to establish a green bio-foundry, a marine healing zone, and an eco-friendly wellness residential complex in the southern part. Additionally, the construction of a sea bridge connecting Yeongjongdo and Ganghwado is being promoted as a key leading project. The Yeongjongdo?Sindo bridge, currently under construction as phase 1, is scheduled to open by the end of next year, and the phase 2 project, the Sindo?Ganghwado bridge construction, is also being reviewed for restructuring to be realized as soon as possible.
On Yeongjongdo, plans include attracting a bio-centered advanced new industry platform to the third reserved site, creating a coastal wetland-themed wetland park at the dredged soil disposal site, developing a complex leisure and entertainment fishing complex and a residential complex for overseas Koreans in Jungsan Marine City, and establishing a marine leisure zone in Geojampo.
In Cheongna International City, a specialized financial complex cluster concentrating various financial institutions will be developed, and in Songdo International City, a bio hub with a virtuous cycle of research and development (R&D), talent cultivation, and employment will be established, along with a high value-added logistics hub utilizing the new port hinterland.
Furthermore, in the area around the inner port, a cultural tourism, mixed-use business, and industrial economy specialized city linked to the 'Jemulpo Renaissance' project is being planned, and procedures are underway to create K-ube, the world's largest cultural complex facility.
Mayor Yoo said, "To realize the plan to create a Global Top Ten City, we will leverage Incheon's competitiveness and strengths to accelerate leading projects and make every effort to attract corporate investment."
