IU Donates Over 100 Million Won for Children's Day
Provides Outback Meals to Welfare Facility Children
'IUana' Cumulative Donations Near 5 Billion Won
Singer and actress IU (real name Lee Ji-eun) has once again attracted attention for continuing her good deeds this Children's Day. She donated 100 million won to the ChildFund Korea and demonstrated her positive influence by taking children from a child care facility in Seoul to a high-end restaurant for a meal.
On the 5th, 'Eden Iville,' a child welfare facility located in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, announced through its official social media that IU had performed such a charitable act. The facility expressed gratitude, saying, "Today, thanks to singer IU's sponsorship, we had dinner at Outback Steakhouse," and added, "It was the best Children's Day for the children."
Eden Iville is a child welfare facility established in 1950. Photos released by the facility show about ten children happily dining at Outback. Although their faces are pixelated and not visible, their hands playing with forks convey a sense of happiness. It also appears that after finishing some dishes, new plates of food were served.
IU's good deeds did not stop there. Under the sponsor name 'IUANA,' which combines her stage name and fandom name 'Uaena,' IU donated 100 million won to the ChildFund Korea. IU's agency stated, "We hope all children grow up loved and healthy," and added, "IUANA sends support again this spring."
Previously, on May 16 last year, IU donated a total of 210 million won to organizations including the Love Snail and the Korea Single Mothers Families Association in celebration of her birthday. On December 31 of the same year, she donated 200 million won for heating costs to four organizations: the Korea Senior Welfare Center Association, the Korea Child Welfare Association, the Korea Single Mothers Association, and the Korea Disabled Welfare Facilities Association. IU's publicly disclosed cumulative donations are reported to be close to 5 billion won, surprising many.
