Gangdong-gu Awards Commendation Certificates to Model Children on Children's Day

Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced that on May 2, during Children's Week (May 1 - May 7) in celebration of the 102nd Children's Day, it held the 2024 Model Children Commendation Ceremony at the Gangdong-gu Office Auditorium.

At the event, commendation certificates were awarded to 31 model children, and a ministerial commendation was also presented to one individual for outstanding contributions in the field of child welfare. Prior to the awards, the Gangdong-gu Youth Symphony Orchestra performed a string trio to add a celebratory atmosphere.

The recipients of the model children commendations were children who actively participated in various activities for child safety and rights, helped neighbors in need, and lived brightly and diligently despite difficult circumstances, serving as role models. They were selected through a fair evaluation process based on recommendations from schools, community child centers, multicultural families, special schools, and other local institutions within Gangdong-gu.

Mayor Lee Su-hee of Gangdong-gu stated, “The Model Children Commendation Ceremony was organized to foster a culture where children can grow up healthy and upright,” and added, “Going forward, the district will continue to develop various policies and build infrastructure to ensure that children can be healthy, safe, and happy as a child-friendly city.”
