'Gyeonggi-do Sky Cleared'... 38.5% Improvement After Introduction of Seasonal Fine Dust Management System Status of Fine Dust Concentration Improvement in Gyeonggi Province After the Introduction of the Seasonal Fine Dust Management System

Fine dust concentrations in Gyeonggi Province have been improving.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that due to the strengthened implementation of tasks during the '5th Fine Dust Seasonal Management Period' from December last year to April this year, fine dust concentrations improved by 38.5%, from 39㎍/㎥ before the seasonal management period (December 2018 to March 2019) to 24㎍/㎥ after its implementation.

To reduce fine dust, Gyeonggi Province collaborated with 31 cities and counties to implement 20 fine dust reduction measures across six major sectors: public leadership, transportation, industry, daily life, health protection, and information provision.

Lee Yoon-sung, Director of the Air Environment Management Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Although weather conditions during the 5th seasonal management period were favorable, fine dust concentrations improved significantly due to direct and indirect reduction activities of fine dust generated domestically. For future seasonal management periods, we will strive to develop more efficient measures to reduce fine dust and dedicate ourselves to reducing fine dust generated within the country."
