Famous game music is being transformed and introduced as Gugak (traditional Korean music).
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Gugak Center announced on the 7th that they will sequentially release thirteen singles of the 'National Gugak Center Game Sound Series' from the 9th to the 24th. This is a daily Gugak album that fuses the sounds of traditional Korean instruments with computer music melodies and rhythms familiar to game users.
A Ministry of Culture official said, "We hope the younger generation will become closer to Gugak through familiar game music," adding, "We will continue to collaborate with various industries to popularize Gugak."
The recreated game music includes theme songs and background music from titles such as 'P's Falsehood', 'Skull, Sannabi', 'MapleStory', 'TalesWeaver', 'Epic Seven', 'Lost Ark', 'Modoo Marble', 'Guardian Tales', 'Blade & Soul', 'Lineage', 'Aion', and 'Black Desert'.
A large number of skilled musicians participated in the production. Arrangement and lyrics were handled by producer Kim Jin-hwan, Gugak composer Yang Seung-hwan, and film music director Lee Ji-soo. Vocals and performances were by popular singer Lee Solomon, National Gugak Center members Park Jin-hee (Jeongga) and Lee Joo-eun (Pansori), vocal major students from the National Gugak Middle School, Soran band’s Lee Tae-wook (guitar), and BTS band’s Kim Ki-wook (bass), among others.
A National Gugak Center official stated, "At the pre-listening event held on the 3rd at NCSoft’s comprehensive game demonstration room, we received high praise from game industry officials."
