The total spending by domestic travelers also reached 166.89 billion yuan (approximately 31.5 trillion KRW), which is 13.5% higher than during Labor Day in 2019.
Chinese tourists focused on cultural tourism, frequently visiting the Beijing Palace Museum exhibiting relics from the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Sanxingdui Museum showcasing ancient Chinese civilization relics, and the Yinxu Museum where the Shang dynasty civilization can be experienced.
Major cultural tourism sites centered on nighttime activities also saw about 72.58 million visitors, an increase of 6.9% compared to last year.
Due to the expansion of air routes and visa-free countries, both foreign travel to China and Chinese outbound travel increased significantly.
During the five-day holiday, approximately 1.78 million foreign tourists visited China, while about 1.9 million Chinese travelers went abroad.
Additionally, according to the Ministry of Transport, the total interregional population movement during this holiday period reached 1,358,462,700 person-trips. This averages to about 271,693,000 people per day, marking a 2.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
