Park Chandae Plans to Reintroduce Eight Bills Including the 'Kim Geonhee Special Prosecutor Act'

The First Bill of the 22nd Session Provides a 250,000 Won Support Fund

Park Chan-dae, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced that he will prioritize proposing a bill to provide a "250,000 KRW per citizen livelihood recovery support fund" in the 22nd National Assembly.

On the 6th, Park said on MBC Radio, when asked about the bill he would propose first after the opening of the 22nd National Assembly, "We will be able to propose a law to provide a livelihood recovery support fund of 250,000 KRW per person."

On the 2nd, Park had stated during his floor leader election campaign speech that he would start negotiations with the ruling party to secure a supplementary budget for the livelihood recovery support fund.

Park also reaffirmed his intention to reintroduce eight bills, including the 'Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act,' the double special prosecutor bills, the three broadcasting laws, the Yellow Envelope Act (amendment to the Labor Union Act), the Grain Management Act, and the Nursing Act, all of which President Yoon Seok-yeol exercised his veto power (request for reconsideration) on.

Park said, "We may prioritize and reintroduce the eight bills, and if necessary, we may submit all the bills as a package."

He particularly commented on Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok's order for a swift investigation into Kim Geon-hee's 'luxury handbag bribery allegations,' saying, "The prosecution may have suddenly come to its senses, but it seems highly likely that this is an attempt to quickly quell the special prosecutor public opinion," adding, "We must watch closely with wide-open eyes."

Regarding the 'Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act,' which passed the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 2nd, he said, "We are closely monitoring whether the presidential office will exercise its veto power."

Regarding the recent remarks by Hong Cheol-ho, the senior secretary for political affairs at the presidential office, who suggested that President Yoon's acceptance of the special prosecutor bill could be considered 'dereliction of duty,' Park criticized, "(Hong's remarks) are dereliction of duty toward the people," and added, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration still has not come to its senses."

Park hinted that in the 22nd National Assembly's committee organization negotiations, the Democratic Party may secure the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and the Steering Committee, and depending on the situation, may consider taking all standing committee chair positions.

He explained that during the launch of the 21st National Assembly, when no agreement was reached between the ruling and opposition parties, the Democratic Party operated all standing committees, saying, "If the (22nd committee organization) negotiations are delayed, it is appropriate to follow the principle of majority rule."
