Majestic Suraksan Foothills, a Special Concert Exclusively for Nowon-gu Residents Amid Sunset Scenery
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold the 2024 ‘Suraksan Sunset Music Concert’ at 7 p.m. on the 19th at the Suraksan Sports Town Baseball Stadium.
Suraksan Sports Town, where the concert will be held, is a recreational facility for residents that was redeveloped from the foothills of Suraksan, which had been suffering from unauthorized buildings and illegal waste dumping. In addition to sports facilities, trees were planted to harmonize with the outstanding scenery of Suraksan, and landscaping, children’s playgrounds, and deck rest areas were installed to create a resting space that residents of various ages can enjoy.
The district will hold a special music concert at the baseball stadium at 7 p.m. on the 19th. The concert, harmonizing with the red sunset of Suraksan’s foothills, was prepared to provide residents with a high-quality cultural experience opportunity.
The Suraksan Sunset Music Concert features ▲ Song Chang-sik, the ‘master of Korean folk songs,’ and premium guitarist Ham Chun-ho as a duo. Also appearing are ▲ soulful voice Bobby Kim ▲ top domestic vocalist Jung Dong-ha, who shows ever-changing colors ▲ Hong Isaak, the owner of a clear high-pitched voice who won ‘Sing Again 3’ ▲ and Kim Na-young, known for her poignant voice.
Various genres such as acoustic, indie, folk, and modern rock are prepared, and a special stage exclusively for Nowon-gu residents is also arranged, raising expectations. The natural surroundings of Suraksan and the atmosphere at sunset combined with the performers’ splendid stages will offer residents a special memory.
A resident A, who participated in last year’s sunset concert, said, “The place Suraksan and the sunset harmonized to stimulate emotions, and along with the sweet songs, everything was beautiful. I am proud to be a resident of Nowon-gu.”
For this performance, the district conducted a telephone pre-reservation for residents from April 29 to 30. The online reservation period is from 10 a.m. on May 7 to 6 p.m. on May 8, and reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through a separate reservation site.
Pre-reserved attendees can receive tickets (admission wristbands) at the on-site ticket booth from 2 p.m. on the 19th by presenting the pre-reservation confirmation text message and ID proving that both the attendee and one companion are Nowon-gu residents. Admission starts at 3:40 p.m., and seating is free.
A district official advised using public transportation as there is no separate parking space due to the characteristics of Suraksan Sports Town and nearby areas where the concert takes place.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “We prepared this special music concert hoping to enrich the daily lives of residents,” and added, “I hope the sunset of Suraksan and the melody of music will remain as beautiful memories for residents like a photograph.”
