'K-Digital Challenge' Held from the 7th
Winners to Receive a Total Prize of 195 Million Won and
Follow-up Support Including Championship and Joint Commercialization
A developer competition open to anyone interested in the virtual convergence world (Metaverse) is being held.
The Ministry of Science and ICT, together with the Korea Radio Promotion Association, will hold the 'K-Digital Challenge: 2024 Metaverse Developer Competition' starting from the 7th.
Now in its 4th year, this competition is open to adults and students interested in the Metaverse. Adults can choose to participate by developing employment tasks, startup tasks using domestic and international metaverse-related companies' authoring tools on specific themes, or free tasks without restrictions on format or theme. Students will all perform free tasks.
Participants will be recruited until the 7th of next month, and an online briefing session will be held on the 12th of next month. After the submission deadline on August 7th, preliminary and final judging will be conducted, and 33 final award-winning works (24 adults, 9 students) will be selected by the end of September.
Outstanding teams will receive a total prize of 195 million KRW, along with awards from the Minister of Science and ICT (2 awards), the President of the Korea Radio Promotion Association (4 awards), the President of the Korea Metaverse Industry Association (4 awards), and sponsor company representative awards (23 awards).
All participating teams will be lent over 80 development devices, including Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 2, from the preliminary round, and will be provided with more than 150 online educational courses.
Teams advancing to the finals (about 70 teams) will have the opportunity to enhance their development results and increase commercialization potential through one-on-one mentoring. Once the 33 award-winning teams are selected, they will have the opportunity to participate in the K-Digital Grand Championship (November to December) and receive follow-up support such as joint commercialization with sponsor companies. The K-Digital Grand Championship is a super competition featuring winners from public-private digital field competitions.
