"Thank You for Parental Grace"... Songpa-gu Holds the 52nd Parents' Day Commemoration Event

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will hold the 52nd Parents' Day commemorative event on May 8th at 10:30 a.m. at the Songpa Senior Welfare Center (Director Lee Kyung-soo) to express gratitude for parental grace and foster a social atmosphere of respect for elders.

Under the theme "Elders as Radiant as Flowers, Thank You Hyo (孝)," the ceremony will award two institutions that have contributed to the improvement of senior welfare through continuous support and two individuals who have practiced filial piety with respect and a serving attitude. Additionally, two eldest male and female seniors receiving customized care services will be presented with longevity canes as a wish for their health.

Various celebratory performances to uplift the spirits of the elders are also prepared. Starting with a cute performance by children from Samjeon Chorok Daycare Center, a mixed duo stage by talk singers Shin Yi-jun and Han Se-young, who are active as music therapists under the slogan "A Beautiful Musical World Painted with Harmony," will be held. In the second part, the Songpa Wind Orchestra will perform the "Thank You Hyo (孝)!" concert.

Throughout the welfare center, events such as carnation pinning, photo zones, and making health bracelets will be available to provide various enjoyments. For the elders' health, Jamsil Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital will offer herbal tea, and BGN Bright Eye Ophthalmology will check eye health. Snacks sponsored by the Songpa Senior Welfare Center will also be prepared to support the elders' healthy nutrition management.

Songpa-gu is the district with the highest number of seniors in Seoul and is implementing various policies to flexibly respond to the diverse needs of elders and enhance the sense of welfare. Efforts are being made to support active leisure and social participation activities for seniors, including the construction of the Munjeong Senior Welfare Center scheduled to open in November this year, the establishment of comprehensive senior welfare policies, and the operation of smart senior centers.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, "We will continue to do our best so that elders can live healthy and vibrant later years, believing that the happiness of elders is the happiness of Songpa. We ask for your continued interest and encouragement."
