Collapse of underground parking lot at construction site in Magok-dong, Seoul... 2 workers injured

At around 1:30 PM on the 3rd, an underground parking lot collapsed at a new neighborhood living facility construction site in Magok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, causing injuries to two people.

The accident occurred when the floor of the 4th basement level of the building collapsed down to the 5th basement level during concrete pouring work.

Two workers in their 30s who were working on the 4th basement level fell and were taken to the hospital, but fortunately, their lives are not in danger.

Rebar and concrete poured down, also damaging vehicles parked on the 5th basement level.

A police official stated, "We believe the accident occurred because the rebar could not withstand the weight of the concrete during the pouring work," and added, "The exact cause of the accident is under investigation."
