"We Will Repay the Efforts of the Elderly"

The Residents' Autonomy Committee of Hapjeong 1-dong, Masanhwoin-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held a senior citizens' appreciation banquet on the 2nd, hosting about 800 elderly residents to honor parental grace.

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, is attending a senior citizens' appreciation banquet and chatting with the elderly.

This event was held for the first time in five years since the COVID-19 pandemic, creating an atmosphere of respect for elders through time spent together with seniors and residents, reflecting on the significance of Parents' Day.

In particular, awards were given to Park Seon-hee, who devotedly cared for her mother-in-law in her 80s and became a role model, and Jeon Seung-ja, a 103-year-old longevity elder who made significant contributions to the local community, encouraging the spread of filial piety and honoring seniors who have contributed to community development in good health over many years.

The seniors attending the long-awaited event said, "We feel a renewed vitality in this joyful atmosphere. The prepared food was delicious, and we were touched by the residents' autonomy committee members and volunteers who took the lead in supporting the event."

Lee Pan-su, chairman of the Residents' Autonomy Committee, said, "In this era of centenarians, everyone here is still youthful," adding, "We hope the event we prepared will become a good memory."

Hong Nam-pyo, mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "My heart is warmed by seeing the residents of Hapjeong 1-dong and the elderly gathered in one place to hold a meaningful event," and added, "To repay the efforts of the seniors who made today's Republic of Korea possible, I will work hard for the development of Hapjeong 1-dong, the central commercial district of the Masan area, and for the re-leap of Changwon as a Northeast Asia hub city."
