Children's Author Releases 'Appa-neun Honjiga Aniya'
The custom picture book creation platform ‘Jakga-ui Tansaeng’ (Birth of an Author) has published a book titled ‘Appa-neun Honjiga Aniya’ (Dad Is Not Alone) through its ‘Children’s Picture Book Author Discovery Project.’
The ‘Children’s Picture Book Author Discovery Project’ is characterized by instructors dispatched from Jakga-ui Tansaeng to schools or libraries who provide in-depth education on picture books, and among these, outstanding picture books are discovered and can be published.
Jakga-ui Tansaeng recently recognized the lack of cultural content in the arts and culture field where children are the main agents, and planned this project accordingly. Since picture books are primarily content for children, the project began with the idea, “What if the creators themselves were children?”
In October last year, the ‘I’m Also an Author Picture Book Making Program’ held at Dongtan Hoyeon Elementary School involved all students from 3rd to 6th grade learning about and creating picture books.
Although students were initially reluctant, they gradually became eager, continuously postponing deadlines while actively participating. As a result of their efforts, many high-quality books were produced, and among them, two students signed official publishing contracts with Jakga-ui Tansaeng.
The first outcome of this is the publication of the book ‘Appa-neun Honjiga Aniya’ (Dad Is Not Alone). This excellent book, born from the fingertips of a 6th-grade elementary student, is filled with the child’s unique imagination and expression comparing a lonely dad to a thumb, as well as deep affection for their father.
Jakga-ui Tansaeng plans to continue the ‘Children’s Picture Book Author Discovery Project,’ expanding the work of capturing the diverse and creative thoughts and expressions of numerous children in books. We look forward to seeing what kind of book by which child will come next from Jakga-ui Tansaeng.
