Gwangju City and Gyeonggi-do Strengthen Commitment to Joint Prosperity and Win-Win Cooperation

Holding a Meeting... Sharing Progress and Plans by Task

Gwangju Metropolitan City and Gyeonggi Province have strengthened their commitment to win-win cooperation for mutual prosperity.


On the 3rd, Gwangju City announced that it held a ‘Win-win Cooperation Meeting’ with Gyeonggi Province.


The meeting took place in the small conference room of Gwangju City Hall, attended by Ko Gwang-wan, Deputy Mayor of Gwangju City, Oh Byeong-kwon, First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, and Oh Hu-seok, Second Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province.

This follow-up meeting was held to review the implementation of the agreement made after signing the Gwangju City-Gyeonggi Province Win-win Development Memorandum of Understanding in May last year and to discuss development plans.


They shared the current status and future plans for each cooperation task and discussed ways to expand collaboration.


The main cooperation tasks include ▲ revitalizing and leading cooperation in the artificial intelligence industry ecosystem ▲ cooperation in building a future car ecosystem ▲ promotion of youth and adolescent exchange programs ▲ joint development and operation of tourism products to revitalize the tourism industry ▲ activation of the hometown love donation system.


Both cities and provinces are participating in product evaluation and technical support for demonstration companies and cross-participating in artificial intelligence expos to revitalize the AI industry ecosystem.


They are also actively promoting cooperation projects such as meetings to discover projects supporting the transition to future mobility and youth exchange events.


Going forward, both cities and provinces plan to continuously discover cooperation tasks, mutually share information, and enhance the execution and efficiency of projects.


Deputy Mayor Ko Gwang-wan said, “Gwangju City is focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and future car transition, while Gyeonggi Province is focusing on Pangyo Techno Valley and eco-friendly car transition,” adding, “By exchanging and cooperating on the key projects of both cities and provinces, we will become a model case for balanced national development.”


Oh Byeong-kwon, First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, said, “In May last year, ‘Opportunity Capital Gyeonggi’ and ‘Opportunity City Gwangju’ promised to establish a close cooperation system and work together for the future of the Republic of Korea,” and added, “We expect Gyeonggi and Gwangju to continue a close cooperative relationship for greater leaps forward.”
