Budget of 1 Billion Won Invested for Tower Painting and Net Replacement, Complete Renovation Undertaken
To establish a win-win open campus in collaboration with the local community, the Sports Department of National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) held an opening ceremony at the Sports Center Golf Practice Range at 10:30 a.m. on the 2nd.
This opening ceremony marked the reopening of the Sports Center Golf Practice Range, which underwent extensive renovations from November last year to March this year.
According to Mokpo University on the 3rd, the project involved a budget of 1 billion KRW to completely renovate everything from repainting the steel towers and replacing the nets to the fairway grass and internal facilities. In particular, the newly created approach area and bunker area are expected to help professional golf players and local golf enthusiasts improve their skills.

The opening ceremony was attended by National Mokpo University President Song Ha-cheol, Jeonnam Sports Council Chairman Song Jin-ho, Muan County Council Chairman Kim Kyung-hyun, Jeonnam Provincial Assemblyman Na Kwang-guk, Cheonggye-myeon Prosperity Association Chairman Kim Sang-chul, students, faculty, staff, and about 100 local residents.
Yang Hong-gyu, a member of the golf practice range, expressed his satisfaction with the environmental improvements and thanked National Mokpo University for its active support of the local community’s sports activities.
President Song Ha-cheol said, “We provided significant support to fully renovate the sports facilities to build a win-win open campus with the local community. I am grateful that the university’s sports facilities have been newly transformed and that many local residents can participate together. National Mokpo University will continue to strive for new development and progress.”
Professor Park Hee-seok, head of the Sports Department, stated, “The National Mokpo University Sports Department will continue to strengthen communication and cooperation with the local community and maintain the sports facilities to provide a safe and comfortable environment for local residents and university members to engage in activities.”
Meanwhile, to coincide with the golf practice range opening ceremony, about 100 people including the president, key officials, county council members, and students performed a ceremony for the establishment of the National Mokpo University College of Medicine, embodying the 34-year aspiration of the residents of the western Jeonnam region.
