The KOSPI index is showing a firm upward trend on the morning of the 3rd amid institutional buying.
Influenced by the rise in the US stock market, the domestic stock market started higher on the 3rd, with both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ opening up. As of 9:59 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI index was trading at 2693.95, up 10.30 points (0.38%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 2704.31, up 20.66 points (0.77%), before narrowing its gains. Currently, institutions are buying alone worth 51 billion KRW. Individuals and foreigners sold 22.1 billion KRW and 24.7 billion KRW respectively.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Hana Financial Group (2.81%), NAVER (2.86%), KB Financial Group (2.21%), Kakao (2.07%), Shinhan Financial Group (1.64%), and POSCO Future M (1.25%) are rising. On the other hand, Samsung C&T (-0.68%), Samsung SDI (-0.68%), and Kia (-0.67%) are declining.
By sector, textiles and apparel (1.51%), services (1.20%), steel and metals (0.74%), finance (0.68%), and insurance (0.57%) are rising. Conversely, construction (-0.61%), securities (-0.59%), transportation and warehousing (-0.49%), electricity and gas (-0.34%), and medical precision (-0.23%) sectors are falling.
On the 2nd (local time) at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the blue-chip-focused Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 38,225.66, up 322.37 points (0.85%) from the previous trading day. The large-cap-focused S&P 500 index rose 45.81 points (0.91%) to 5,064.2, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq index jumped 235.48 points (1.51%) to close at 15,840.96.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index recorded 872.48, up 5.00 points (0.58%) from the previous session. The index opened at 872.27, up 4.79 points (0.55%). Institutions and individuals bought 15.4 billion KRW and 3.5 billion KRW respectively. Foreigners sold 12.5 billion KRW net.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Lino Industrial (7.51%), Samchundang Pharmaceutical (5.78%), Ligachem Bio (2.79%), Dongjin Semichem (2.25%), Sinsung Delta Tech (1.45%), and EcoPro (1.34%) are rising. Meanwhile, HLB (-1.03%) and HPSP (-0.78%) are falling.
