On the 1st, Village Garden Cultivation Task Force Launch Ceremony Held at Gucheong Station Plaza, Creating the 1st Charm Garden
Additional Gardens to be Sequentially Created at Four Locations Including Doksan 2-dong Village Park and Doksan 3-dong Multipurpose Plaza
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will create various forms of "Attractive Gardens" in five locations within the district in May, allowing residents to encounter gardens anywhere in their daily lives.
In connection with the upcoming opening of the "Seoul International Garden Expo" on the 16th, the initiative aims to enable residents to experience attractive gardens and garden culture close to their everyday surroundings.
Five "Attractive Gardens" with different themes will be sequentially created at five locations: the "Farewell and Greeting Garden" at the plaza in front of Geumcheon-gu Office Station, the "Mist Garden" at the Doksan 3-dong Multipurpose Plaza, the "Cozy Garden" at the Doksan 2-dong Village Park, the "Omiwon Garden" at the Hoamsan Urban Agriculture Park, and the "Food Garden" inside the Geumcheon-gu Office building.
On the 1st, the district held a "Village Garden Cultivation Promotion Team Launch Ceremony" at the station plaza with about 50 residents, including the Siheung 1-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee and the Geumha Village Council of Doksan 1-dong, creating the first "Geumcheon-gu Attractive Garden." The first "Attractive Garden" was designed with the themes of "seeing off on the way to work" and "greeting on the way home" for residents who start and end their day passing through Geumcheon-gu Office Station.
Based on the district's symbols and urban brand colors, a welcoming garden (Welcome Garden) was created to greet everyone passing through the station. Flowering trees and evergreens such as hydrangeas, evening primroses, heucheras, irises, and grasses, along with emerald green evergreens, were planted to allow visitors to feel the changing seasons throughout the year.
The district plans to complete the creation of the remaining four "Attractive Gardens" before the Garden Expo opens. Anyone in the local community can participate in creating the "Attractive Gardens," and applications can be submitted through the Geumcheon-gu Office website.
The "Seoul International Garden Expo" is a representative festival of the "Garden City Seoul," held from May 16 to October 8 at Ttukseom Hangang Park under the theme "Life of Gardens in Seoul (Seoul, Green Vibe)" and the subtitle "Colorful Hangang." Visitors can view gardens created by international competition-winning artists, students, citizens, companies, and institutions, as well as enjoy the Garden Center and various garden culture programs.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "We will create 'Attractive Gardens' that harmoniously blend nature and the city throughout the year with residents, providing resting spaces where people can enjoy plants and take a break."
