Dobong-gu Selected for 2024 Seoul Regional Tourism Revitalization Support Project
Plan to Revitalize Tourism Centered on Traditional Temples... Development and Promotion of Tourism Programs Within the Year
The traditional temple tourism project in Dobong-gu has gained momentum.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that its traditional temple tourism revitalization project was selected in the Seoul Metropolitan Government's regional tourism activation support project competition.
Following the selection, the district plans to invest 20 million KRW secured from the project fund to promote various initiatives linking Dobong-gu's traditional temples with local cultural resources.
They plan to develop travel products aligned with the purpose of the competition, conduct cultural interpreter training, and produce tourism souvenirs.
A district official stated, "We plan to benchmark other districts' cases to enhance the project's quality in the first half of this year and will introduce the traditional temple tourism program within the year."
Earlier, Seoul City held a competition for the '2024 Regional Tourism Activation Support Project' to build infrastructure and develop content aimed at attracting tourists and revitalizing the local economy in autonomous districts.
The district applied for the Seoul City competition to revitalize three traditional temples in the area (Wontongsa, Cheonchuksa, Manwollam) and attract tourists, and was ultimately selected.
Accordingly, the district will receive direct and indirect support such as project funding, consulting, and promotional marketing for the traditional temple revitalization project.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "Dobong-gu has many tourist resources besides Dobongsan. The district plans to prepare and implement various tourism programs based on these local resources and infrastructure."
