'2024 Dongdaemun-gu Garden Festival' Held Throughout May

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 3rd that the '2024 Dongdaemun-gu Garden Festival' will be held throughout May.

Since declaring the 'City of Flowers' last year, the district has prepared the garden festival to provide citizens with an opportunity to enjoy everyday relaxation along with the beautiful nature of newly created spaces such as ▲Garden of Knowledge ▲Jungnangcheon Rose Garden ▲Cheongnyang Dream Forest ▲Cheongnyangni Charm Garden.

The main stage of the garden festival is the Garden of Knowledge (691-3 Jeonnong-dong), where rapeseed flowers and daisies are in full bloom. As the first event on May 1st, Labor Day, a busking performance and the district’s honorary ambassador, the small horse 'Wally,' delighted residents visiting the Garden of Knowledge with joyful memories.

On the 7th, a special event will be held where participants can make bouquets with Dongdaemun-gu gardeners and express their feelings to loved ones. On the 11th, singer Choi On, Daisy, and drawing artist Mars Hotel Bellboy will perform.

On the 11th, the district will also hold a session to find Dongdaemun-gu’s representative scent for residents visiting the Garden of Knowledge.

Events will also take place at the Jungnangcheon Rose Garden. On the 17th at 10 a.m., at the rose gardens located under Jangpyeong Bridge (Jangan-dong) and across from Imun Ssangyong Apartments (Imun-dong), visitors wearing 'flower crowns' can take photos with roses and receive their life shots as Polaroid photos.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We will transform Dongdaemun-gu into a ‘City of Flowers’ where flowers and trees can be found anywhere within five minutes from your room.” He added, “During the festival, the Dongdaemun-gu Companion Plant Clinic Center will also operate a ‘Companion Plant Class,’ so please apply and participate through the Seoul Public Service Reservation (yeyak.seoul.go.kr).”

Meanwhile, the district has been filling green spaces throughout Dongdaemun-gu by recently creating the ‘Cheongnyangni Station Charm Garden (in front of Exit 5)’ and ‘Cheongnyang Dream Forest (the school route of Sindap Elementary School).’
