A Day for Seongbuk's Future Generations and Families to Fully Enjoy and Experience
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has prepared a variety of events where children take center stage around the district office to celebrate the 102nd Children's Day.
On Children's Day, the popular "Seongbuk One-Day Mayor's Office," which opens the mayor's office to children and adolescents, is once again a hit this year. Thirteen children and adolescents who applied in advance will be appointed as Seongbuk-gu mayors in the office, experiencing how work for residents is conducted and trying out document approvals.
On this day, the one-day mayors will receive reports on the 'Donghaeng Card' project and the 'Seongbuk Children Friends (親區) Festival,' which the district has proactively promoted to support children and adolescents growing into happier and healthier future generations, and will sign approval documents.
The area around the Seongbuk-gu Office Wind Yard and Lawn Yard is expected to be lively with the 'Children Friends (親區) Festival Experience Booths.' The festival, held from 1 PM to 6 PM, will involve 10 operating facilities including Wolgok Youth Center, Seongbuk Youth Culture House, Jangwi Youth Culture Nurim Center, Seongbuk Youth Playground, Seongbuk Youth Counseling Welfare Center, Youth Guidance Council, Our Neighborhood Care Center, Regional Child Center Council, Child Protection & Dream Start, and UNICEF.
There will be activities for the whole family to enjoy together such as retro family photos, dalgona candy picking, nostalgic stationery shops, and family motto badge making, as well as youth happiness booths, wish trees, future masks, and pinwheel making for child abuse prevention campaigns where children and adolescents can share their concerns and plan for the future and hope through experiences and play.
Meanwhile, the 'Arirang Children's Song Contest' finals and the 'Youth Club Festival' will also take place. Fifteen teams participated in the Arirang Children's Song Contest starting at 1 PM. The Youth Club Festival, which will fill the stage from 4 PM, features 16 teams with abundant talent and passion.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, "As Seongbuk-gu was certified as Korea's first child-friendly city by UNICEF, we have done our best to make Children's Day the best event in the country where our future generation's infinite possibilities and latent energy can be expressed joyfully and excitingly. We hope for the great interest and visits from children, adolescents, and families."
