By 2030 Goal, Development of a Residential Complex with About 400 Households in Wolbyeon, Uljin-eup
On April 24, Gyeongbuk Uljin-gun commenced the 'Uljin Wolbyeon District Urban Development Project' at the old railway site in Eupnae 3-ri, Uljin-eup.
Since starting negotiations to purchase the railway site in 2015 and completing various administrative procedures, the county finalized the purchase of the railway site in 2022 and broke ground in 2024.
This project plans to develop 61,994㎡ with a total investment of 25 billion KRW, including 20 billion KRW from the county budget and 5 billion KRW from the Local Extinction Response Fund. The infrastructure construction that began this time is scheduled to be completed by April 2026.
The project includes plans for about 400 public sale and public rental housing units, youth rental housing, a youth startup culture center, a health center, and various auxiliary facilities. The county plans to proceed with the construction of public rental housing in consultation with the Gyeongbuk Development Corporation.
County Governor Son Byeong-bok stated, "Once the 'Wolbyeon District Urban Development Project' is completed, not only will high-quality housing be supplied in the area, but a new urban area will also be created." He added, "This project is expected to serve as a catalyst to revitalize the stagnant local economy and overcome local extinction by securing residential spaces for youth, newlyweds, the elderly, as well as the influx of residents due to the National Nuclear Hydrogen Industrial Complex and the construction of Shin-Hanul Units 3 and 4."
