Gwangju Shinsegae Local Talent Hope Scholarship Surpasses 3.3 Billion Won in Total

The 29th Scholarship Award Ceremony Held... 70 Million Won Delivered

Regional Coexistence Started in 1995... Over 3,200 Beneficiaries

Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) has surpassed a cumulative total of 3.3 billion KRW in the Local Talent Hope Scholarship, which began in 1995 to promote mutual growth with the local community. The number of beneficiaries has also exceeded 3,200.


On the 2nd, Gwangju Shinsegae held the "29th Local Talent Hope Scholarship Award Ceremony" and announced that it had donated 70 million KRW through the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation.

CEO Lee Dong-hoon of Gwangju Shinsegae, Managing Director Kim Young-chun, and Kim Eun-kyung, Head of the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, attended the event.


The donated scholarship funds will be used for students who are doing their best in their studies despite difficult circumstances. In addition, Gwangju Shinsegae actively participates in donation activities in cooperation with organizations such as the Seo-gu Scholarship Foundation, Roksu Scholarship Association, Hanmaeum Scholarship Foundation, and Mudol Scholarship Foundation.


The amount donated by Gwangju Shinsegae through these organizations reaches 130 million KRW just this year.


Gwangju Shinsegae, which received an A grade in last year’s evaluation by the Korea ESG Standards Institute, has been consistently carrying out social contribution activities for co-prosperity with the local community beyond just scholarship donations. Since its opening in 1995, it has continuously conducted activities such as the "Hope Santa Expedition," delivering gifts to vulnerable children in Seo-gu, and the year-end "Love Kimchi Sharing Ceremony."


CEO Lee Dong-hoon said, “Gwangju Shinsegae will do its best to enhance the happiness of local residents through social contribution activities such as the Hope Scholarship. We are grateful for the past 30 years of growth with the love of the local community and will prepare for a better next 30 years.”
