Rising Atmosphere of Sharing and Coexistence
Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 2nd that it is operating an intensive period for the ‘Warmth Sharing Nationwide Campaign’ from April 15 to June 15, and the atmosphere of sharing and coexistence is rapidly spreading.
In Goseong-gun, the local atmosphere had been subdued due to COVID-19, but since the endemic declaration, volunteer activities by residents have greatly increased, and with this campaign, along with the warming weather, the local warmth is also rising.
On the occasion of the 79th Arbor Day, to contribute to the spread of low-carbon green cities, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Center, and Goseong-gun volunteers collaborated to plant 650 hydrangea and arrowwood trees around the lotus park walking trail in Sangri-myeon, a popular spot for many spring visitors, initiating the ‘Carbon Offset Forest Creation’ warmth sharing to respond to climate change.
Thanks to the Warmth Sharing Nationwide Campaign, the atmosphere of ‘Sharing the Warmth of Love’ with neighbors in need is also spreading in Goseong-gun.
A strawberry farm generously donated 1,200 kg of strawberries they grew themselves to 20 social welfare facilities, and a rice noodle agricultural cooperative donated 662 boxes of rice noodles to local senior centers.
A volunteer group composed of young people invited about 150 elderly living alone and disabled households to carry out a love-filled Jjajang (black bean sauce noodles) sharing volunteer activity, warming the surroundings as many organizations participate in the Warmth Sharing Nationwide Campaign.
Visiting volunteer activities for neighbors are also being actively promoted.
Ahead of the full-scale farming season, the 120 Volunteer Corps conducted joint warmth sharing volunteer activities through talent donations in five areas: ▲light bulb replacement ▲farm machinery repair ▲boiler repair ▲beauty services ▲welfare counseling, contributing to the practice of warmth sharing.
Youth in the region are also stepping forward to improve the living environment for vulnerable households.
The Goseong Love Association visited vulnerable households with all members to provide house repair volunteer services and village environmental cleanup activities, and the Goseong Youth Chamber directly visited 15 households with old electrical wiring risks to carry out wiring and lighting fixture replacement volunteer activities.
County Governor Lee Sang-geun said, “If a healthy community where neighbors care for neighbors is created by continuously fostering an atmosphere of sharing and coexistence through the promotion of the Warmth Sharing Nationwide Campaign, sustainable development and growth can be achieved,” and added, “I hope more residents will take an interest in the Warmth Sharing Campaign.”
