50th Anniversary of Pony Unveiling
Highlighting the Domestic Automobile Industry
Ulsan Museum is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Pony, first unveiled in 1974, by holding a themed exhibition titled "The First National Car, Pony" from the 3rd of this month until September 22.
This exhibition highlights the historical significance and value of the Pony, the starting point of the domestic automobile industry.
The exhibition is composed of the following sections: ▲The Dream of Automobile Localization ▲The First National Car, Pony ▲The Time of Pony ▲Playing with Pony.
"The Dream of Automobile Localization" covers the development story of the Pony, Korea's first independently mass-produced car.
"The First National Car, Pony" explores the Pony, which opened the door to the My Car era and was the first passenger car exported from Korea.
"The Time of Pony" reviews the history of the Pony from its design to discontinuation, while "Playing with Pony" features various activities that revive memories of the Pony.
A museum official stated, "The Pony is not only Korea's first independently produced car, the first passenger car export, and a pioneer in the European and North American markets, but also a vehicle that opened the My Car era as 'my first car' and 'our family car,' marking an important milestone in the domestic automobile industry. We hope visitors will experience the Pony filled with records, memories, and challenges through this exhibition."
Ulsan Museum is also running an exhibition titled "The Poet Who Sang of Spring, Seo Deok-chul," highlighting Seo Deok-chul, a poet from Ulsan who conveyed dreams and hope to our people through writing during the Japanese colonial period, until August 25.
