The National Police Agency announced on the 2nd that it will accept ideas for the '2024 National Safety Invention Challenge' public category until the 28th of next month, in collaboration with the Korea Customs Service, the National Fire Agency, the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and the Korea Coast Guard.
Now in its 7th year, the National Safety Invention Challenge is a contest held jointly by the National Police Agency and safety-related agencies including the Korea Customs Service, the National Fire Agency, the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and the Korea Coast Guard to discover ideas that protect the public’s safety at disaster and accident sites, as well as crime scenes.
In the public category, participants can propose ideas related to the tasks presented by each agency, and applications can be submitted individually or as a team through the website (Idea-ro).
Outstanding ideas selected through expert evaluations in each field will undergo an enhancement process with intellectual property experts, be utilized by each agency, and the proposers of excellent ideas will receive certificates and prize money.
This is the second year for the public category idea contest. Last year, outstanding ideas in the public safety field included ‘Development of AI CCTV for Early Detection of Criminal Activities’ and ‘Mobile Phone-Attached Personal Safety Alarm Ring Holder.’
A representative from the National Police Agency stated, “We will promote idea proposals in the public safety field to connect ideas to industry and thereby secure a peaceful daily life for the public.”
