Yeongdeungpo-gu 'Hotdulhotdul Seoul Early Childhood Sports Team' Expands Membership... Secures 100 Million KRW in City-Province Funds

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has been selected for the Seoul city public contest project, ‘Hatdoolhatdool Seoul Infant Sports Team,’ for three consecutive years and will significantly expand the number of participants this year.

‘Hatdoolhatdool Seoul Infant Sports Team’ is a project that regularly supports children aged 3 to 5 by linking local private sports facilities and daycare centers, allowing them to experience sports disciplines that are usually difficult to access.

In particular, since the project began in 2022, the district has been selected for the contest three years in a row and secured 100 million KRW in city funds this year.

Accordingly, the district recruited additional private sports facilities and daycare centers within the district that wish to participate in the project to broaden infants’ opportunities to experience sports.

Thanks to the high satisfaction of participating institutions, 9 additional daycare centers joined this year, bringing the total to 34 centers, and the number of infants increased by 230, totaling approximately 890 children participating in the sports team activities.

Also, a total of 10 private sports facilities are participating this year, where children can experience three sports disciplines: indoor futsal, Taekwondo, and Hapkido.

The district has continuously worked to ensure smooth operation of the project by cooperating with participating sports facilities and daycare centers, utilizing children’s school buses owned by each institution to secure both convenience and safety for the children’s transportation. As a result, costs related to vehicle rental were reduced, and the savings were used to expand support for sports facility usage fees and instructor fees, thereby improving the quality of education.

Additionally, user satisfaction surveys and feedback collection are conducted regularly to actively improve any issues with the program, and various promotional activities are planned to encourage participation from private sports facilities to further revitalize the program.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Through the operation of the Hatdoolhatdool Seoul Infant Sports Team, I hope every child has a valuable opportunity to experience various sports,” and added, “We will continue to create diverse programs that help children grow up healthy while nurturing their dreams.”
