Gangnam-gu, 52nd Parents' Day Commemoration 'Hyo Harmony' Gratitude Relay

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will continue a series of events at six welfare centers until May 8, starting with the ‘Hyo Harmony’ event on April 26 in celebration of the 52nd Parents' Day.

On the 26th, the district held the event titled ‘Hyo Harmony for the One and Only You in the World’ to express gratitude to the elderly. Hosted by Gangnam-gu and organized by the Gangnam-gu Senior Welfare Institutions Council, the event was attended by over 500 seniors. Awards were presented to 12 individuals and groups, including filial piety honorees, exemplary parents, and contributors to senior welfare. Following this, lively MC Jo Young-gu led the program, and trot singers Na Sang-do and Kim Yong-im delivered exciting performances to convey thanks and congratulations to the seniors. Nine institutions from the Gangnam-gu Senior Welfare Institutions Council and a traditional Korean medicine volunteer group offered various side events such as physical age measurement and visiting smart community rooms.

On Parents' Day itself, May 8, six senior welfare centers (▲Gangnam Senior Welfare Center ▲Nonhyeon Senior Welfare Center ▲Gangnam Senior Plaza ▲Yeoksam Senior Welfare Center ▲Apgujeong Senior Welfare Center ▲Daechi Senior Welfare Center) will pin carnations on the elderly and provide special meals at senior cafeterias.

Additionally, each welfare center will hold its own events. From May 2 to 8, Gangnam Senior Plaza will visit 65 vulnerable elderly households to deliver sponsored goods. On May 3, from 2:30 PM to 4 PM, Daechi Senior Welfare Center will host a celebration performance and raffle for 60 seniors. The welfare center’s line dance club DC+DC and the Gangnam Happiness Concert performance team will enliven the event. Nonhyeon Senior Welfare Center, supported by NH Nonghyup Bank Seoul Headquarters and Yeongdong Jeil Church, will hold a commemorative event on May 8 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Yeongdong Jeil Church. They will invite 150 low-income elderly living alone and offer an exciting trot singer performance along with souvenirs. The Saemaeul Women's Association of Nonhyeon 1-dong will also participate by providing a special samgyetang meal.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “The seniors greatly enjoyed the carefully prepared event held with respect on Parents' Day. We will continue to listen attentively to the voices of the elderly with the heart of caring for our parents and do our best to enhance welfare.”
