Park Minwon, President of Changwon University, "Hope for Joint and Mutual Development with Geochang and Namhae"

First Official Act of Inauguration Ceremony, Donation of Hometown Love Fund Delivered

On the 1st, Park Min-won, the 9th president of the National Changwon University, delivered hometown love donations to Geochang County and Namhae County in Gyeongnam Province at the university headquarters.

Following his inauguration ceremony the previous day, President Park, together with university officials, delivered the hometown love donations as his first official schedule. He stated, "National Changwon University hopes to achieve mutual development and co-growth with Geochang County and Namhae County."

He also said, "Furthermore, we will fulfill the public nature and responsibility of a regional national university that leads the future development and sustainable co-growth in all areas of the local community."

Kim Hee-yong, Administrative Director of Gyeongnam Province, said, "The hometown love donations from President Park and the officials will be a valuable foundation for the county areas struggling with population decline to take a step forward," adding, "We hope the hometown love donation system will become an opportunity for the region and the university to grow together."

Earlier, Changwon University was selected as a preliminary designated Glocal University with the goal of forming a grand integration belt of higher education in Gyeongnam through the merger with Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College and Namhae College, and alliances with Korea Elevator University, the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, and the Korea Institute of Materials Science.

Through the Glocal University designation, the university plans to nurture advanced technology personnel and customized industrial skilled workers in fields such as defense industry, nuclear power plants, and smart manufacturing, preparing for the next 50 years of the Changwon National Industrial Complex and leading the development of Gyeongnam.
