Scheduled to Resume on August 30 After Review by the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Wolseong Nuclear Power Headquarters announced that Wolseong Unit 3 (a 700,000 kW pressurized heavy water reactor) has ceased operation and entered the 21st planned preventive maintenance.
Wolseong Unit 3 stopped power generation from 9 a.m. on the day and began planned preventive maintenance, which will take 121 days.
During this maintenance period, statutory inspections, restoration of the non-safety bus B series circuit breaker base, improvement of the 345 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) equipment in the switchyard, and disassembly inspection of the high-pressure turbine will be conducted.
After completing the inspection, Wolseong Unit 3 is scheduled to resume power generation on August 30, following approval from the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission.
