GS Group held an overseas executive meeting in the United States to share new business plans.
GS Group announced on the 1st that it held the 'GS Overseas Executive Meeting' for two days starting from the 29th of last month (local time) in Seattle. Key executives from major affiliates participated, including Chairman Huh Tae-soo, Vice Chairman Huh Yeon-soo of GS Retail, President Hong Soon-ki of GS Corporation, President Huh Yong-soo of GS Energy, President Huh Se-hong of GS Caltex, President Huh Yoon-hong of GS Construction, President Jung Chan-soo of GS EPS, President Kim Seok-hwan of GS E&R, and President Lee Young-hwan of GS Global. Unusually, executives in charge of digital transformation (DX) from major GS Group affiliates also joined.
The executive meeting was held with 'Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)' and 'Digital Innovation' as the main agenda. GS Group explained that as AI technologies such as ChatGPT continue to advance, it is necessary for executives to directly understand AI in order to connect it to work productivity and business innovation. Prior to the meeting, Chairman Huh said, "Although the business environment is greatly fluctuating, there is no future if we only shrink back," adding, "We should rather take this as an opportunity to nurture internal talent and accelerate business innovation." He also emphasized, "Digital AI technology amplifies the creativity and business potential of talent," and "CEOs must lead by increasing their understanding of technology so that voluntary digital innovation can occur in the business field."

The GS Group executives also visited major U.S. big tech companies to experience cases where AI technology has driven industrial innovation. Their first stop was the Microsoft (MS) headquarters, where they examined digital innovation cases and discussed topics such as 'The Future of Work' and 'AI and Industrial Innovation' with local experts. They also visited AWS, Amazon's cloud computing division, to discuss ways to combine data and AI technology to promote not only work collaboration but also work innovation.
The GS Overseas Executive Meeting is the highest-level forum held once a year in foreign emerging markets or advanced technology hubs to discuss GS's future challenges. It was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed last May in the United States. Since Chairman Huh's inauguration, GS Group has adopted the motto of 'Future Growth through Digital and Eco-friendliness,' checking and encouraging the DX status across the group. To this end, the 'AI Digital Council' is held quarterly at the executive level, and this year, the group has been promoting the '52g Camp Project,' which applies AI integration technology to solve business site problems, expanding it to all affiliates.
