FSS Strengthens Promotion of Financial Crimes Affecting Livelihoods in 'Family Month'

The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) announced on the 1st that it will carry out various promotional activities from the 2nd to the 31st to prevent damage caused by financial crimes infringing on people’s livelihoods in celebration of Family Month.

Focusing on the fact that financial crimes infringing on people’s livelihoods cause serious economic and psychological harm not only to individuals but to entire families, the FSS decided to conduct intensive promotions. Taking advantage of the recent difficult economic situation, illegal private loans, investment fraud, and insurance fraud, in addition to voice phishing, have been rampant, so promotional activities will be carried out targeting all financial crimes infringing on people’s livelihoods.

The FSS newly produced various promotional videos to raise public awareness and vigilance about the seriousness of financial crime damage. Additionally, new leaflets and posters containing prevention methods and action guidelines in case of damage will be actively used for promotion.

Considering the many external events and activities in May, promotions will be actively conducted in multi-use facilities with high foot traffic. A promotional booth will be set up at the 'Seoul Safety Hanmadang' event held at Yeouido Park from the 2nd to the 4th, where quizzes and experiential events will be held.

In addition to traditional promotional methods such as distributing leaflets and posting posters, promotional videos will also be broadcast on cinema screens and monitors in public transportation facilities (airports, trains, subways, buses). The promotion methods will be diversified, including displaying QR codes on coffee shop cup holders.

Furthermore, financial companies will broadcast promotional videos through monitors at their branches during this intensive promotion period and disseminate information on damage prevention systems and new fraud techniques to customers via bank applications (notification messages) or their own social networking service (SNS) channels.

They will also actively participate in promotional activities such as visiting senior welfare centers to provide education on preventing financial crimes infringing on people’s livelihoods.
