Jinju City Expresses Deep Regret "Will Hold Agency Responsible"
Considering Strong Sanctions Against Agency Alongside Measures to Prevent Recurrence
Jinju City in Gyeongnam expressed deep regret on the 1st regarding the error that occurred during the announcement of the written exam passers for the public recruitment of employees at the Jinju City Facilities Management Corporation on the 24th, and stated that it will hold the agency responsible for the entire recruitment process.
Previously, the agency entrusted with the entire employee recruitment process of the Jinju City Facilities Management Corporation announced the written exam results at 5 p.m. on the 24th.
However, due to a system error in the agency’s computer system, some candidates’ scores were displayed as those of other candidates, causing an error. About 40 minutes later, the announcement was suspended with an urgent notice, and after re-verification, the results were re-announced at 9:30 p.m.
During this process, 22 candidates who were initially announced as passers were corrected to fail. The agency urgently explained the error by phone on the same day and set up a consultation window from the 28th to the 30th to allow candidates to check their written exam results.
Meanwhile, Jinju City has been conducting the entire employee recruitment process for the Facilities Management Corporation through an external professional institution selected via a restricted competitive bidding to ensure fairness and objectivity.
The recruitment process for employees of the Jinju City Facilities Management Corporation began with a recruitment announcement on March 20, followed by the announcement of document screening passers on April 16, the written exam on April 20, the announcement of written exam passers on April 24, interviews conducted over two days on April 29 and 30, and the final announcement of successful candidates scheduled after May 28.
A Jinju City official said, “To ensure fairness in the recruitment process, the entire process was entrusted to an external professional company, but it is very regrettable that the agency’s error caused much confusion among candidates. After being notified of the error in the announcement of the written exam passers by the recruitment agency, the city promptly guided those whose status changed from pass to fail and took follow-up measures such as disclosing answer sheets to eliminate any suspicion regarding the written exam results.”
He added, “We will cooperate with the service provider to improve the verification process and establish measures to prevent recurrence, and will proceed with the recruitment schedule smoothly until the final announcement of successful candidates. We are also considering strong administrative sanctions against the agency that caused this confusion, such as registering it as a restricted bidding company and reducing the contract amount.”
