Asia's only diaspora film festival will open next month on the 17th at the Incheon Culture & Arts Center.

The Diaspora Film Festival is an international film festival planned to share the diversity and value of tolerance of diasporas who are marginalized due to discrimination and prejudice, held in Incheon, the first city in Korea where immigration began and a place rich with the history and various stories of migration.

Marking its 12th year, the festival will take place over five days from the 17th to the 21st of next month, with film screenings and various programs held at the Incheon Aegwan Theater, the Korea-China Cultural Center, and the Incheon Art Platform.

Especially this year, aiming to establish itself as a representative film festival of Incheon and to get closer to the citizens, the opening ceremony is prepared at the Incheon Culture & Arts Center, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The event will feature the recently popular 'Yogijogi Music Concert (Busking)', congratulatory performances by Kim Yoon-ah and Jang Ki-ha, and the screening of the opening film.

From the 18th, the main event themed around diaspora will include over 75 film screenings as well as various events such as director talks, experience booths, and flea markets. Detailed schedules including the screening program will be announced on the official website of the Incheon Film Commission in early May.

Kim Chung-jin, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Incheon City, said, "The Diaspora Film Festival is a festival for everyone to enjoy together, composed of diverse content including not only films but also music and theater performances, and citizen participation academies." He added, "We will continue to strive for the true values of harmony, coexistence, and respect."
