Gwangju Nam-gu Initiates Administrative and Economic Exchanges with Jeonbuk Sunchang-gun

Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is forming a sisterhood alliance with Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, to promote mutual development among local governments and engage in multifaceted exchanges.

According to Nam-gu on the 30th, a sisterhood alliance agreement ceremony for inter-regional exchange and cooperation was held at 11 a.m. in the video conference room of Sunchang-gun.


The ceremony was attended by Kim Byeong-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu, Choi Young-il, Mayor of Sunchang-gun, Hwang Kyung-ah, Chairperson of Nam-gu Council, Shin Jeong-i, Chairperson of Sunchang-gun Council, and about 40 officials from both local governments and local councils.


Following this agreement, Nam-gu and Sunchang-gun will strengthen mutual trust and friendship as partners in the era of decentralization and carry out various exchange and cooperation projects for the development and prosperity of local governments.


They also plan to actively engage in exchanges across administration, economy, culture, education, sports, and the private sector, and cooperate on common interests of both regions to drive community development.


Kim Byeong-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu, stated, "Through this sisterhood alliance, Nam-gu and Sunchang-gun have laid the foundation for mutual growth through practical cooperation. We will cherish the bond of sister cities and do our best to carry out various exchange and cooperation projects to achieve infinite development with Sunchang-gun."


In response, Choi Young-il, Mayor of Sunchang-gun, said, "I hope to continuously develop multifaceted exchanges with Gwangju Nam-gu to achieve mutual growth and development. I hope today’s event will be the starting point for both local governments to pursue progressive development beyond a simple agreement."


Meanwhile, Nam-gu continues sisterhood and friendship city exchanges with 18 local governments nationwide, including Jindo-gun, Damyang-gun, Boseong-gun, Jangheung-gun, Wando-gun, and Hampyeong-gun in Jeonnam Province, Imsil-gun in Jeonbuk Province, Chuncheon-si in Gangwon Province, Yeongdeungpo-gu in Seoul, and Ansan-si in Gyeonggi Province, to expand exchanges among local governments.
