Yeongyang Firefly Observatory to Resume Operations from May 2

Major Renovation and Expansion of 1st Floor Exhibition Hall

The operation of the ‘Banditbul-i Observatory,’ which was unavailable from last October until the end of April this year, will resume from May 2.

Through the exhibition production and installation work carried out since the beginning of the year, the Banditbul-i Observatory has significantly renovated and expanded the existing first-floor exhibition hall. It will offer visitors a variety of attractions, including video content about the birth and evolution of the universe and an immersive video zone covering the launch process of the Nuri rocket.


In addition, a photo zone with an astronaut concept and a guestbook corner have been set up in the center of the exhibition hall, allowing visitors to record precious memories made at the Banditbul-i Observatory.


Currently, the Banditbul-i Observatory accepts on-site registration only, without reservations. During the day, visitors can observe sunspots and solar flares using a solar telescope, and at night, they can observe planets, nebulae, star clusters, galaxies, and the moon.


Furthermore, at the Star Ecology Experience Center, visitors can enjoy an ecological exhibition hall showcasing the natural ecology of Yeongyang, a Milky Way travel hall, and additional fun experiences through VR devices that cannot be felt at the observatory.


County Governor O Do-chang said, “The newly transformed Banditbul-i Observatory has become a place where visitors can experience more diverse content than before,” adding, “We will provide a mysterious experience of becoming one with nature while closely observing the starry night sky, which is Yeongyang’s pride.”
