Yoon Sang-hyun: "Hwang Woo-yeo's Emergency Committee During Innovation Period... Limitations of Yeongnam Leadership's Reality Perception"

"No response no matter how much reform is discussed"

Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the appointment of Hwang Woo-yeo as the emergency committee chairman, saying, "Now is the time for comprehensive innovation, but no matter how much we talk, there is no response." He pointed out that it is inappropriate to promote a 'management-type emergency committee' at a time when party reform is urgent.

On the 30th, Yoon appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and said, "I have consistently advocated for an innovation-type emergency committee, not a management-type one," adding, "The ruling party suffered its greatest defeat since democratization in 1987, which is unprecedented, and it is also the first time a conservative party has lost three consecutive general elections," raising his voice.

He continued, "In the metropolitan area, we won 16 out of 121 seats four years ago, and this year, we won 19 out of 122," adding, "(In the metropolitan area) since 2000, we only won once in 2008. There must be a desperate innovation and a struggle of anger to hold a party convention properly," he said.

He described Hwang as "a reasonable and frankly moderate person," but said, "What I advocate is an innovation-type emergency committee, so I hoped someone else would come to draw the picture of innovation."

Furthermore, Yoon emphasized that the People Power Party should elect a 'metropolitan area party leader' to regain public sentiment in the metropolitan area. He said, "The elected members and existing lawmakers seem to have very different sensitivities and perceptions of reality in the metropolitan area," adding, "It's not about excluding a specific region, but it is true that there are limitations of the existing Yeongnam-centered party."

He said, "The difference is immediately apparent when compared to the Democratic Party," adding, "The Democratic Party is a metropolitan party based in Honam." He continued, "From leader Lee Jae-myung to Jeong Cheong-rae, Go Min-jung, and Park Chan-dae, all are metropolitan party leaders and part of the leadership," and "On the other hand, while I am not belittling former leader Kim Ki-hyun and floor leader Yoon Jae-ok, the Yeongnam leadership has limitations in recognizing the reality of the metropolitan area. Now is the time for comprehensive innovation, but no matter how much we talk, there is no echo," he pointed out.
