Hiding Cash and Goods Over 10 Million Won
Store Owner Expresses Shock at Absurd Crime Spree
An absurd incident occurred in Jeonbuk where a couple in their 40s, employed at a convenience store, pretended to be the owners and embezzled goods and money at will before disappearing. On the 29th, MBN reported the story of Mr. A, the owner of a convenience store in Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk. Mr. A filed a complaint with the police against Mr. B, a male employee in his 40s, and Ms. C, a female employee in her 40s, who stole cash and other items.

Mr. B and Ms. C are a married couple who started working at Mr. A’s convenience store in August last year. After working for five months, they disappeared with over 10 million won in cash and convenience store goods. After they vanished, Mr. A checked the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and was left stunned by their ridiculous criminal behavior.
The CCTV footage showed the couple eating and sleeping in the store and using goods without paying. Ms. C casually ate a sandwich she picked, while Mr. B took cigarettes from the display. They also took laundry detergent and snacks without paying. They frequently drank beverages and even touched the cash in the safe.

In front of customers, they lied, saying "the safe is broken," and calmly took cash. It was reported that whenever customers paid with cash instead of credit cards, the couple pocketed all the money. A local resident who remembered the missing couple testified, "When they went to buy cigarettes, they would say 'the safe is broken' and put the money I gave them into their own pockets." Store owner Mr. A said, "They were a couple with a child, but watching the CCTV was absurd and unbelievable," adding, "It felt like watching the movie 'Parasite'." According to the police investigation, Mr. B was previously tried on fraud charges.
