Recently, the prices of food and daily necessities such as apples, seaweed, and salt have skyrocketed, making life difficult for ordinary citizens. As a result, people are increasingly reluctant to open their wallets, creating a vicious cycle that further burdens small business owners.

Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Junhee) has joined hands with local alleyway market merchant associations to boost the morale of small business owners who are struggling due to a contraction in domestic consumption.

This year, the district will hold the ‘Gwanak-gu Alleyway Market Usage Promotion Integrated Discount Event’ twice, once in the first half and once in the second half of the year, distributing coupons that residents can use like cash at alleyway markets.

The event will distribute coupons worth 5,000 won each to the first applicants, two per person, at seven alleyway market booths from May 7 to 8.

The coupons can be used for one month from May 7 to June 7 at participating stores in seven Gwanak-gu alleyway markets: ▲Boramae-dong ‘Borabit Street’ ▲Jungang-dong ‘Jeongjungang-gil’ ▲Cheongnyong-dong ‘Purumir-gil’ ▲Inheon-dong ‘Nakseongdae Byeol-gil’ ▲Sinsa-dong ‘Sinsa Mat-gil’ ▲Jowon-dong ‘Daechu Chorong Jowon Bok-gil’ ▲Daehak-dong ‘Nokdu Street’.

Participants in the coupon event will also have a chance to enter a prize draw. Three winners per market will be randomly selected to receive attractive prizes: ▲1st prize - 32-inch HD TV ▲2nd prize - Hair dryer ▲3rd prize - Diffuser, offering enjoyable benefits and excitement.

The district hopes that this event will ease the purchasing burden on local residents, help restore consumer sentiment even slightly, and lead to revitalization of the local economy and markets.
