World Cultural Heritage Dolmen Promotion 'Stamp Tour' Also Gaining Popularity

The '2024 Hwasun Dolmen Spring Flower Festival,' held across the Hwasun Dolmen site from April 19 to 28 for 10 days, concluded successfully.

According to Hwasun County on the 29th, the '2024 Hwasun Dolmen Spring Flower Festival' was composed of nine programs under the lively theme "Let's go on a spring picnic to Hwasun," held in April when the outing season begins, receiving positive responses from tourists.

The highlight of this festival was undoubtedly 'Bellygom.' The giant Bellygom sculpture installed and exhibited in the Mirim Zone to promote the Hwasun Dolmen site to numerous young MZ generation people from Gwangju and Jeonnam created a spectacular scene with long queues for photo verification shots regardless of weekdays or weekends.

Especially on weekends, visitors had to wait over an hour just to take a Bellygom verification photo, showing the festival's popularity. Notably, hundreds of posts related to the Dolmen Festival, including Bellygom verification shots, were continuously uploaded among the MZ generation familiar with Instagram and blogs.

This was a difference rarely seen in the previous two festivals and can be considered a good achievement in understanding how the Dolmen Festival should approach the younger generation in the future.

This event, aimed at being a viewing-type festival, provided wide resting spaces such as Family Zone, Picnic Zone, and Water Gazing Zone, and offered various photo zones throughout the Dolmen site, including Rainbow Bridge, Spring Flower Ferry, and White Deer Luka, delighting tourists' eyes.

The stamp tour prepared to promote the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Dolmen broke the prejudice that it would only be popular among young students, as numerous tourists of all ages participated, making it a great success.

The stamp tour, conducted at representative dolmens such as Goebawi, Pingmaebawi, Gamtaebawi, and the prehistoric experience center, plans to expand its scope further during the autumn festival this year to imprint the dolmen on more tourists.

At Pingmaebawi, a representative dolmen somewhat distant from the Hwasun Dolmen site, a wish board related to a wish legend was created, and many tourists participated in the event by writing their wishes.

Contrary to expectations, the enthusiastic participation of tourists was so great that the originally prepared wish boards had to be replaced three times.

The outdoor caf? 'Spring Sunshine Garden' set up in Chunyang provided various photo zones and a sophisticated resting space that harmonized with the Chunyang lawn plaza, receiving high praise as a rediscovery of Chunyang from tourists.

One tourist commented, "I visited Hwasun for the first time to see Bellygom, but I didn't know there was such a beautiful and wonderful space. I want to visit again before the festival ends to enjoy it."

A Hwasun County official said, "Unlike previous festivals, many young couples and the MZ generation visited our festival site and left satisfied. We will strive to create a more recognized festival with differentiated programs so that it can become a representative festival not only in Jeonnam but nationwide," adding, "We appreciate the support for this festival and ask for much interest in the autumn flower festival to be held this fall."
