Foreigners Turn 'Buy' in Afternoon
On the 29th, both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ closed higher. The gains widened in the afternoon due to combined buying by foreigners and institutions. In the US stock market, despite the rise in big tech stocks, the semiconductor sector showed weakness. The battery and automobile sectors showed upward trends.
The KOSPI closed at 2,687.44, up 1.17% (31.11 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI started the day at 2,675.46, up 0.72% (19.13 points) from the previous close, and maintained a steady trend.
Foreigners and institutions net bought 418.9 billion KRW and 330.6 billion KRW, respectively. Individuals alone net sold 690.7 billion KRW. Foreigners showed selling pressure in the morning but turned to buying in the afternoon. In the futures market, only foreigners bought 577.9 billion KRW, while individuals and institutions sold 225.6 billion KRW and 357.6 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, only semiconductors closed lower. Samsung Electronics was flat, and SK Hynix closed down by 1.07%. On the other hand, Celltrion rose 4.02%, POSCO Holdings 3.17%, NAVER 1.76%, and LG Energy Solution 1.75%.
The KOSDAQ closed at 869.72, up 1.51% (12.90 points) from the previous trading day. It started at 860.53, up 0.43% (3.71 points) from the previous close, and extended its gains. Foreigners and institutions net bought 140.4 billion KRW and 84.5 billion KRW, respectively, while individuals net sold 214.1 billion KRW.
Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, Ecopro was flat, and HLB closed down 0.64%. Meanwhile, Enchem rose 6.60%, HPSP 3.88%, Celltrion Pharm 2.56%, and EO Technics 1.88%.
