63 Traffic Deaths in Chungnam This Year... Police Intensify Crackdown

It was revealed belatedly that a person in their 20s died after a collision with a car driving under the influence in Yesan, Chungnam.

According to the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency on the 29th, at around 2 a.m. on the 19th, Mr. A, in his 50s, was driving in the wrong direction under the influence of alcohol on a national highway in Yesan-gun, Chungnam, when he collided with a compact car.

The person in their 20s who was riding in the front passenger seat of the compact car died in the accident. Mr. A and the driver of the compact car were injured and transported to the hospital.

The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A.

Meanwhile, the number of traffic accident fatalities in the Chungnam area this year has been counted at 63, an increase of 10 compared to the previous year. Accordingly, the police plan to conduct intensive crackdowns starting in May on traffic violations including drunk driving, pedestrian violations, and motorcycle offenses.
