Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will conduct safety inspections of medical institutions in the district throughout May as part of the national safety diagnosis initiative.
According to Nam-gu on the 29th, safety inspections of medical institutions in the district will take place from May 2 to May 31.
This is to identify potential risk factors in private medical institutions in advance and to carry out prevention-focused safety inspections to avoid safety accidents.
The inspection targets include 13 institutions: three general hospitals, two Korean medicine hospitals, and eight nursing hospitals within the district.
The inspection will be conducted jointly by private experts and public officials in charge of medical law, following the safety inspection guidelines.
They will thoroughly examine five areas according to medical law safety management standards: facilities, construction, fire safety, electricity, and gas.
Nam-gu plans to immediately address any issues that can be resolved on-site during the safety inspection process and implement urgent safety measures such as usage restrictions, demolition, or designation of hazardous zones as necessary for disaster prevention.
Additionally, administrative actions such as correction orders and fines will be taken against violations of laws and regulations.
A Nam-gu official stated, "Hospitals have many outpatients and patients with limited mobility, so if a safety accident occurs, there is a high risk of multiple casualties. We will conduct detailed safety inspections to prevent unfortunate accidents."
